A lot of time has passed since my last entry. I am happy to say we survived the holidays. Meeting Santa turned out to be a bit of a chore. I wanted a particular kind of Santa and when I came to the realization of how absurd that was, there were extremely long lines at the mall. My mom's rotary group has a Santa once a year and I was banking on going to meet him. This was perfect because he wasn't a strange man and he had a fake beard. The clincher was, we had to be there at seven in the morning. Needless to say, that did not happen. So one day the following week, Matt and I took Jackson back to the mall before school was out and got our picture! Jackson was so cute in the outfit his Great aunt Laura got him. Christmas was fun although Jackson slept through my family's get together. Our family friend Allison brought her new husband and baby (who was so well behaved). Matt's parents, Steve and Lisa, hosted a Christmas party. He was all smiles there and everyone who wanted to, got the chance to hold him. However, by the time he was finished eating, not a lot of people had stuck around. On Christmas day, My Grandpa Hallie held Jackson for the bulk of the day and he behaved in his pumpkin seat while we all ate at the same time. That was the first time that had happened so I consider that Jackson's Christmas gift to us. After my family celebration came to an end (around 9:30pm) I packed up baby Jackson in the car and drove to St. Louis for Matt's family get together. That was a hoot too. My favorite part was when Kay opened the Chef mask for her white elephant gift and put it on her head. I've never seen anything so hilarious. The next morning, we had a delicious brunch and I got a chance to stop by my apt. and drop off some things. The Dresners took the baby with them so I had a chance to relax and get things done.
Jackson is not new to road tripping by any means, but this was the first time he was in a car for a six hour long stretch. We drove from Columbia to Floyd's Knob, IN. There were 30 people in the house so there was always someone around to hold Jackson. He was so good the whole trip and D even slept with him every night we were there, besides the last night. I was able to take in a movie with some of the family. We went hiking, which is my favorite part of New Years there. We went bowling and I lost, and we all went out to dinner. It was a great vacation and really relaxing. Unfortunately, when we got home, Jackson was so out of his routine that he was fussy for five days. I didn't get more than two hours of sleep for four nights, and on the fifth night around 4:45, I was staying at my parents, and my dad came up and watched him until 8 so I could sleep. Then when I came up at 8, the baby was sleeping so I went back to sleep until noon. From that point on, he's been a good baby again. Unfortunately, he has begun teething. The bad thing is that he doesn't have enough control over his hands to bring a teething ring to his mouth. This has resulted in Jackson gumming my knuckle.
