Getting Bigger

Jackson and Matt have a lot in common. I guess daddy taught baby how to hog the remote.

Tis the Season

Jackson's first Christmas is rapidly approaching. We had our first family Christmas picture taken and I had cards made. I actually finally had announcements made at the same time. Sometime this weekend I intend to bring Jackson to meet Santa. We tried at the galleria last night, but the santa they had was really creepy and had a crusty beard, so I decided to wait until Columbia and try again. I also need to get Jackson a "baby's first Christmas" ornament, so if anyone has any ideas of where to get one made, let me know. I was thinking Things Remembered. The laughing has increased and the baby seems to have conversations with us...they consist only of gibberish, but its a start! He is really vocal so I can already tell he's going to be a loud kid like both of his parents were! Uh oh for mommy and daddy. My mother had a video made of little J-dog so if anyones interested, let me know. Jacksons great aunt Laura bought him his holiday outfit. It is so perfect and we appreciate it so much. I couldn't have found anything more perfect. Photos are to follow!

Jackson's First Laugh!

In the last week or so, Jackson has developed a lot. He is finally giving all of the toys he used to hate a chance. He is mesmerized by lights. He adores his play mat and vibrating seat. Just ten days ago, he wouldn't have anything to do with them. It's been two months and we're just now finally getting into a routine. Although he is not yet sleeping in his crib, I feel that I can finally get some sleep and housework done.  Last week he actually laughed for the first time. I've never seen anything so cute.

About the Baby

Jackson was born on October 8th, 2008 weighing in at 7lb 8oz and reaching 20 3/4in in length. I was in labor for a grueling 21 hours. At about the 18 hour mark was when I finally got my epidural and was able to get some rest so I could enjoy the experience as much as everyone else. Matt and I both have the greatest families. Almost everyone drove in to the hospital to be a part of the fun. Thats a two hour drive for most. When Jackson was born, he was the best baby in the nursery. He didn't make a peep until his circumcision. From that point on, things got pretty bad. He became colicky about a week after that and remained that way for about 3 weeks. We love him so much and felt so bad for him, but we had no idea what to do for the poor guy. I am happy to say that he is getting a lot better at life and he only cries when he's hungry, dirty, or tired. He is very responsive and loves to talk to us. There is nothing better than his smiles and his famous "cherio face." He is identical to his daddy in looks and personality. His eyes have already began to change from blue to what might be hazel and he has a full head of hair. He seems to morph into a different baby overnight so I am excited for what the next few days/ weeks are going to bring!
